The Brandon Warne Podcast Project: An Overview

About a month ago I realized I needed to work on my audio chops, and one of the hardest things — I’ve been told — is doing audio/radio by yourself.

As a decidedly non-tech savvy individual, I decided to stick true to my roots as I forge out into the audio and podcast world. I started my own podcast.

But it’s not like any other podcast I’ve ever encountered. Simply put, I lay my iPhone on my desk in my home office, and talk for up to 15 minutes while recording a ‘video’ which is simply the camera recording my lovely Ikea desk.

Then, I upload the video to YouTube.

At a cost of $0 — the iPhone is a sunk cost, and I use my old one — I’ve created a podcast that, while decidedly low-tech, is easy for people to listen to, and easy for me to track just how many people have listened.

And to date, not a whole lot. But hopefully as I improve, so too will the numbers. At least I’m getting experience. Today, I’m going to embed the four episodes which I’ve already recorded, for ease of viewing, and for people to get a feel for my concept.

As always, please feel free to leave comments (constructive criticisms if you will) below. Thanks.

  1. Jason says:

I would definitely listen to this, but watching/listening to a YouTube video is more difficult to do than open up my podcast audio app and find your stream. Ask The Geek or the Sportive guys how they do straight audio and make their podcasts searchable. That would make it a lot more easy to listen to in my car.
