Back to Business

First and foremost, thanks to all of you who read my story in the most recent blog post. I’d been kicking around the idea of writing it for about a year now, and last night it just felt right. So again, thank you for the support.

But as the title suggests, let’s get back to business:

Yesterday I trekked down to Target Field on assignment to chat with a few guys. The big interview was a Q&A with Chuck James, which took place after the game. He was very great to chat with, and now knows about #FREECHUCKJAMES. He says thanks. Ha ha. Look for that Q&A to run later in the week at UDR. I’ll promote it too. (Like anyone was worried I wouldn’t.)

I also chatted with Rene Rivera about Francisco Liriano’s performance yesterday, and a bit about how the shuttling from Rochester has affected the Red Wings’ clubhouse. Rivera is a top-notch guy, and I heard people saying “He truly cares about his pitchers” about him in the press box. I can see why it’s a difficult decision to decide if he or Butera stay up. I think the 40-man roster crunch will mean Rivera is demoted, but I support it either way.

I did manage to chat with Rene Tosoni, Brian Dinkelman, Ben Revere, Phil Dumatrait, and Luke Hughes as well, as each of them gave me their thoughts and feelings regarding the fluidity in the Red Wings’ clubhouse. What a great group of guys to chat with.

The recent column I penned for GameOn! went up this afternoon, entitled Who’s Hot/Who’s Not. There’s definitely some surprising names on each side.

I also recently wrote a column for UDR on some Royals’ prospects who could break through soon. Oddly enough, it was almost exactly when Mike Moustakas got the call.

Speaking of Moustakas, I also put together a prospect profile on him for Baseball Press. That’ll go up in the next day or so.

I’m still adding blogs to my blogroll on the sidebar here at BW.com. If you’re looking for free publicity, I’d be happy to lend a hand. Let me know at brandon.r.warne@gmail.com or @brandonwarne52 on Twitter.

For those scoring at home: BW current triple-slash: .231/.355/.269. Gotta get that slugging percentage up!

Today’s BW.com inspired music selection of the day:

Have a great day everybody! I’ll be around all week, but will be out of town for the weekend (Minot!) on wedding duty with the fiancee. The things we do for love…..
