Quick Hits

Hey loyal readers, just have a few seconds here to hit you with a little new content.

My post at Baseball Press went up today. In it, I explain why you should have faith in an otherwise outstanding second baseman.

The MLB draft kicks off tonight at 7pm Eastern. The Twins select 30th and have three picks in the top 55. One mock I’ve seen has the Twins selecting Kolten Wong, second baseman out of Hawaii, while Kevin Goldstein’s mock has the club selecting another college pitcher, this time one out of TCU not named Matt Purke, but junior Kyle Winkler.

To stoke a little discussion, who do you see the Twins ending up with?

Finally, another discussion question:

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being very uncertain and 10 being complete certainty, how much do you trust the Twins’ front office to right the ship prior to the 2012 season?

A few years ago, I would have given a higher confidence mark to the Twins FO. However, with the way things have turned out I am not as sure. On the plus side, they brought in Thome last year, Pavano at the right time and I liked the Gomez/Hardy trade, and think bringing Nishi in was good. On the down side, however, trading Hardy for spare parts and relying on Casilla with no real back up plan was a bit short sighted. The bullpen hasn’t worked out, so there is a lot of work to do there.

    Thus, I’ll come in at a 6 1/2 out of 10.
